Haize Rava and TSimone Designs Create Magic on Set!

Category: Fashion, News

The amazing image you see is from the shoot I styled. The shoot took place in a warehouse, and what made this warehouse extra unique was the amazing textures and structures of the architecture. One huge advantage of the space was that one of the back rooms has a row of pillars/columns that shot so amazingly in the background of this image.   The dress designed by TSimone Designs added that extra vibe and we got exactly what we were looking for!   To see more dresses from TSimone visit: http://www.tsimonedesigns.com/

Special Shout Out to TSimone Designs for that FAB-U-LOUS Dress!!!! Please visit the web site to show this independent designer support!  Also, do me a favor- drop some comments let me know what you think!!

How Not To Go Overboard This Season

Holiday Eating Tips with Trainer Aja Davis

It happens every year.  The holidays come around and all your hopes of sticking to your guns about not eating sweets or having an extra serving of Aunt May’s mac & cheese AND candied yams AND mashed potatoes AND sweet potato pie go out the window.

And who are we kidding, the holiday eating starts the minute the kids walk through the door with all that Halloween candy. You promised yourself you wouldn’t eat it. Well, ok maybe just one. And one turns into three and before you know it, your kids are wondering what happened to their night’s plunder. You know you’ve done it. Don’t lie. And you know what, you’ll probably do it again whether it’s at the company holiday party, at the family thanksgiving day dinner, or one of many food filled holiday events marked on your calendar before 2009 comes to a close.

Well here are some tips to keep yourself from going overboard this holiday season that will help keep you slim and trim

1. Eat before you go out. If you know you will be at place that serves food that is not a part of your healthy meal plan for the night, try preparing something healthy beforehand and enjoying a meal a bit earlier. If you are full before going out, at the very least, hunger won’t tempt you to indulge.

2. Brush your teeth & chew gum. Brush your teeth right before going out. Ever think about how you don’t want to eat anything after brushing your teeth. By keeping gum in your mouth you keep that minty taste going and ever notice how certain foods taste gross right after chewing gum or brushing your teeth. Try it. Can hurt

3. Make a plan and then tell a friend/partner/spouse. First, decide what you will and will not eat before going out. Then, tell a friend/spouse who is going to be at the event with you what your plan and that you intend not to eat these foods. Not only will this help keep you accountable, but you will be more mindful of what you are eating because someone else will be watching you too.

4. Know that it’s OK to cheat. One of my clients put it best, “Thanksgiving is only one day.” And actually, it’s only one meal. Plan ahead of time for that meal. If you know that you will be eating a whole lot on that day, then start cutting back a bit now so you will feel better on that day. No one should feel guilty about what they eat on Thanksgiving. I believe you should never feel guilty about food. But if you do, preparing for it ahead of time helps. In your regular meal plans, include one meal (yes just one) where you eat whatever you want or ‘fall off the wagon’ so to speak. We are all human, and building in “mistakes” not only makes us feel better but will prevent bigger downturns in the future.

5. Don’t slump on your exercise routine. We are creatures of habit. Keeping your your healthiest habits during the holidays not only will keep you pumped with endorphins, but you’ll be less tempted to go off the deep end if you are feeling really good about yourself.

How to NOT Get Sick This Winter

Important Flu Prevention Tips from Trainer Aja Davis

I was going to wait to give these tips in my next newsletter, but given the state of several of my clients and friends, I felt I should share this info ASAP.

As I’m sure many of you are aware, Flu Season is in full swing and as our world gets smaller and the viruses get stronger, it is more important than ever to protect yourself so you can be at the top of your game.

I have compiled a list of some of the best strategies for staying healthy this flu season.

1) Decide that you are not going to get sick. Seriously, refuse to get sick. Everything that goes on in your body is controlled by the mind, whether you are aware of it or not. One of the most powerful flu/cold/disease fighters is your mind. Say to yourself every day, “I refuse to get sick. I am healthy and well.” And believe it. Ever decide on something and commit to it completely and then magically it just kind of happens? This can work for your health as well.

2) Get sleep. I know this is probably the most difficult for you new moms out there, but resting your body is one of the best ways to keep your immune system strong. And think about it, could you get to bed maybe 15 or 30 minutes earlier? Do you really have to check your email, or watch that last show? Commit to getting more sleep and your body will repay you with good health.

**Getting adequate sleep also plays a role in weight loss as well!

3) Wash your hands. This one is pretty obvious but definitely worth mentioning.

4) Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. Our bodies are 70% water and if we don’t keep our internal environment properly hydrated there is no way we can expect it to perform at the optimum level. We all need to drink more.

5) Make sure you are getting enough vitamin D, ideally from the sun. I know getting out in the sun is not as easy when it’s cold, but making sure you have enough (most people are deficient) does wonders for your immune system. Be cautious about using supplements to get your vitamin D, however. If you use supplementation make sure it is in the form of vitamin D3 which is naturally found in foods like eggs, organ meats, cod liver oil, & fish. Read more here to find out about supplementation http://tinyurl.com/8cgtla

6) Take preventative measures & be on the look out. Whenever I feel the slightest sniffle I take a few drops of oregano oil (great all natural immune system booster) in a glass of water. Or I down one of those EmergenCee packets that have a bunch of vitamin C. Then, I make sure to get to bed early and eat as many fruit and veggies as possible, keeping my diet free of processed flour and diary. (Dairy can cause more mucus formation. I reaffirm to myself that I refuse to get sick and watch as the symptoms melt away.

I hope these few tips help keep you cold and flu free this season.

Stay well,
Aja
